Her artistic odyssey from the sam- ba-infused streets of Brazil to the Gaudí-adorned avenues of Barcelona has been a vibrant voyage of self-discovery
transition is more than geographical – it is a profound metamorphosis of her musical identity, driven by an unwavering commitment to her craft and the courage to redefine the boundaries of house music with her authentic touch.
Kesia, moving from Brazil to Barcelona is a significant
moment you realized that Barcelona was where you needed to be to truly express your musical self?
“I think I realized that on my first weekend living here, after I played in a studio for some people who work in music and all of them were impressed. I thought, “If this is happening on my third day living here, imagine what the future will bring.” I got super excited.”
You mentioned the desire for a style that you love to play as a catalyst for your move. Can you share more about this style and why it resonates with you deeply?
“I’ve been playing European tech house since 2017 in Brazil when almost no one was playing it, so it was complicated because it was different for the public. I really wanted to make entire sets with this style, but because it wasn’t popular, I had to mix with commercial music, and most of the times I had to do that, I had the feeling I could be doing something better. “
“When I play tech house/minimal, or even techno, I feel that I’m showing good music to people, the opposite feeling from when I was playing commercial music in Brazil.”
Since arriving in Barcelona, how has immersing yourself
creativity in working on? and the music you’re currently
“Barcelona is a party city, and I see how people here love to party and have a good time; this inspires me to try to make more danceable music with a ha- ppy vibe. When I’m in the studio, I try to imagine if people would dance to the track I’m working on.”
It seems the studio has become your
sanctuary. Can you give us a glimpse into your studio routine?
We also have a DJ studio by the side, whe- re we can record videos or practice for a set. And sometimes I just work on my computer headphones.”

“It is. Especially in my first three months living here, I wasn’t even going out because I just wanted to stay there. It’s a studio with big and medium speakers, some drum machines, and other

What aspects of your musical roots do you bring with you to your sets, and how do you blend these with the venues where you play?
“There are so many talented producers in Brazil, so I always have tracks from these artists in my sets,
a new culture influenced your life change. Can you describe the and sonic mastery. Kesia’s
and depending on the dance floor, I play some tracks with Brazilian vocals. They remind me of home, and the crowd normally loves these tracks.”
The adaptation process can be full of surprises. Can you share a particularly memorable experience or
challenge you’ve faced lately?
“The first three months were very challenging for me. I was missing my friends and family a lot and started to suffer from anxiety about the future of my career. I remember crying a lot in the beginning, but at one moment, I just reali- zed that I was already living my dream and now I just need to keep working hard and the Universe will take care of the rest. So the moment I decided to stop worrying was very memorable for me.”
Being a Brazilian artist in Barcelona, how do you plan to maintain connections with your roots while also embracing the European electronic scene?
“I’m planning to have at least two or three tours in Brazil per year. Since I moved to Europe, I’ve been receiving a lot of messages from my Brazilian fan base, asking me when I’m coming back, and now I see that I want to play more often for them and also to be close to my family and friends.”
Seems that the move to Barcelona was a leap toward happiness and fulfillment. How has living in Spain nurtured your and how does it translate into your
happiness, music?
“There is something about this city that just makes me feel that I’m on the right track and in the right place, even being far from my loved ones. All the little things that I do here, like going for a coffee in the middle of the day, have a different taste. Maybe because since I mo- ved, the first thing that I think about when I wake up and the last thought I have before going to sleep is my career. Staying alone makes me want to focus on myself as a whole project.”
Lastly, as you look ahead, what could we expect from Kesia in the foreseeable future?
“I’m always working on bringing the best vibe and the best music to the public, but now especially, I’m very focused on creating this through my own music, trying to escape the ordinary. So it’s taking a little more time to release new stuff now because I’m working on creating something more remarkable.”
As our conversation comes to a close, it’s clear that Kesia’s narrative is
continuing track full of beats and life, of growth and inspiration. In the electronic tapestry of Barcelona, she weaves her
creating music that resonates with the soul of two continents. With each performance, with every track she produces, Kesia is not just playing music; she’s inviting us to journey with her.
And in this voyage, we find not just the echo of her past, but the promise of an electrifying future. Kesia is not just a name on a record; she is a musical force ascending, a dancefloor dream weaving the next chapter in the global language of rhythm.
