What we spend on at Christmas
WE are each set to spend more than £400 on Christmas presents this year, according to a sur vey by
Fool.co.uk. Apparently, • We spend
£419 on presents for an average of 10 people; • One in 20 peo
ple spend more than £1,000 to cre ate the perfect Christmas; • One in seven
people are happy to give home-made presents. Typically, we
fork out £27 on each gift for our friends and family, but we don't want them to spend quite as much on us. We would much rather they spend closer to £19. Four out of 10
people (40%) believe that Christmas should cost less than £200, and one in 20 (5%) spend more than £1,000 to create the per-
financial pressure for many, especial ly those with large families. What’s more,
