Chatburn CE School sang beautifully to the residents of The Manor House last Friday. Mrs Eileen Dickinson had trained them to a high stan­ dard and everyone enjoyed their Christmas songs and car­ ols. Father Christmas gave out presents as a thank-you for their entertainment.

Parish Church was buzzing with life on Sunday morning as a large congregation of all ages gathered for the Christingle service, led by the Rev. Eric Kyte, ably assisted by young people from the Tower Club and the recently formed Gis­ burn Brownies. The Brownie flag was paraded to the altar by Emma Todd, Helen Kyte and Bethany Giles and after welcoming everyone Mr Kyte lit the third candle on the Advent crown! Mr D. Ingham gave a Bible reading and every­ one sang an Advent hymn. The children of the Tower Club, led by Mrs Joanne Lloyd,.built-up a large model of the Christingle orange of items hidden among the congregation, and recited poems and prayers forming the acrostic of “Christingle”.
