C oming of Age

THE Probus Christmas Lunch was held at the New Drop Inn, Ribchester, when 101. members and guests sat down to enjoy the

festive fare. Chairman Paul Duck welcomed the

Mayor and Mayoress of the Ribble Valley, Coun. Alan and Mrs Susan Yearing, and the event was professionally controlled by Walter Tyres from Toastmasters Interna tional who was also the speaker after the meal. The toastmaster, resplendent in red jack

et, ensured the smooth progress of' the meal, the interval and then his address to; the audience. With anecdotes illustrating ' his function at formal events, he demon strated how the secret lay in being prepared

for the unexpected. Equally important is meeting the principals prior to the event to define just what is required;' ' Probus member John Adey gave the vote

of thanks. The next meeting of Clitheroe Probus is

at the normal meeting place, the Pendle Club, Lowergate.'at l i a.m. tomorrow when the annual "chiefly yourselves" meet ing will include carol singing and other musical items. Inquiries should be made to the secretary, tel. 012bpj429207V';j , i A , Pictured, from the'left; is Mayoress Mrs
