Wow, here we are again in December and just a few short weeks away to Christmas. I cannot believe it was a year ago when we were all facing lockdown 2 or was it 3, jumping from tiers 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the blink of an eye and looking ahead to the bleakest of Christmases we had known since probably the war years.
A lot has happened in the intervening months but I think we can safely say that for most of us, some kind of normality has returned. Our shops have reopened, pubs and restaurants are back in business and once again we are able to enjoy the kind of events with friends and family that we all so took for granted in the past. Each month we try to feature a little of all of the above in our magazine and we hope you are able to support our local businesses striving to keep going in these difficult times.

With Christmas just round the corner, thoughts invariably turn to present buying and we are blessed in our area with a plethora of wonderful independent shops and boutiques. We know it’s easy to just sit at home, click and buy online but remember what it was like when we had no shops to visit? These places really need our support this Christmas and looking through our retail therapy pages, they certainly seem to have plenty to offer.
Dining out is another treat many of us really missed during the lockdowns. I was lucky enough to be invited to the award-winning Bell at Skenfirth in Monmouthshire this month and if you fancy spoiling yourself, I’d highly recommend a visit here. If you can’t fit it in before Christmas, a voucher as a present to be redeemed next year would certainly be something to look forward to.
In our entertainment section, we take a snapshot of just a few of the seasonal highlights coming to the area this month and there is certainly plenty to amuse the whole family, including of course the return of the Christmas panto.
Whatever you do, have the happiest of Christmasses and merriest of New Years from all of us here at Live 24-Seven and we will see you in 2022.
