WHAT’S ON IN YOUR COUNT Y WINTER WONDERLAND ON ICE
Coventry Glides – the stunning ice rink that transformed Coventry Cathedral Ruins into a ‘winter wonderland’ last festive season – is back by popular demand.
The magical, festive rink has returned returning to the city and will be welcoming skaters of all ages until Thursday, January 9. It is open seven days a week for one hour time slots, with prices starting from £5, which can be booked through the Coventry 2021. It is suitable for anyone over the age of five. Popular slots sold out quickly in 2020, so skaters are being encouraged to book early.
Chenine Bhathena, creative director of the Coventry City of Culture Trust, said: “As the nights draw in and the days get colder, Coventry Glides will bring great fun and excitement to our city centre, bringing more and more people into the city to enjoy all that Coventry has to offer. So, wrap up warm, grab your friends and family and book your ticket to the most magical experience this year.”
Food and drink options will also be available for those visiting the rink. Tickets are available at

A VERY YORKSHIRE CHRISTMAS
Folk royalty Kate Rusby returns to Worcestershire this month to Malvern Theatre for her rescheduled Christmas concert.
Forever proud to call herself a folk singer, Kate Rusby’s beautiful, expressive vocals never fail to connect the emotional heart of a song to that of her audience. Kate’s Christmas Tour, has, for many, become as much a part of the festivities as Christmas pudding itself! Warm and inviting, spicy and sparkly she and her marvellous band – joined as ever by a sublime brass quintet – embody the sounds and joyous spirit of the best Christmases ever!
A Kate Rusby Christmas Concert perpetuates the tradition of Yorkshire carols, Specific carols sung in the crowded pubs of South Yorkshire. Kate sat in the corner of those crowded pubs as a child, so the songs she brings to these shows are in her bones. For over 200 years, from late-November to New Year’s Day, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire communities would congregate on Sunday lunchtimes, in their local public house, to belt out their own versions of familiar carols, carols that were often frowned upon by the church in Victorian times as ‘too happy’.
See her on Saturday, December 4. For tickets visit
