Can you talk about the incredible cast - Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons? This cast is so amazing. I love my cast so much. Working with Adam Driver every day was absolutely thrilling. He’s a consummate professional. He’s so brilliant and smart and fun and goofy and we had a great time working together. I loved working with Jeremy Irons, I loved working with Al Pacino, I loved working with Jared Leto, I loved working with Salma Hayek, I loved working with Jack Huston – I loved working with everybody. The movie was an experience that I’ll never forget. And I have to say also, my director Ridley Scott, every day that I walked on set he said, ‘OK what do you think this scene is about?’ And it wasn’t because he didn’t know, it was because he was interested to know what I had to say. And I feel that I am a woman in a man’s world and having a man say, ‘What do you think?’ is something that empowers me and I feel loved. In a movie that has a lot of themes of wealth and patriarchy – this made us fly. And I can’t thank Ridley Scott enough and Giannina, his wife, who is a producer on the film, she is incredible and this film would never have been made without her.
Some critics have said that film like this and the true crime craze glorifies murder. What are your thoughts on that? I don’t believe in the glorification of murder. I do believe in the empowerment of women. And I do believe that in this role it was important to me that I understood why this could have happened. And I took beats in the script as well as throughout her life and the understanding of the business and what happened in the business
of the Guccis, to understand what would have turned for her and how this was a plausible murder.
What did you learn about yourself while making this movie?? What I learned about myself? I really learned that even when I have limits, I can push beyond that. But I think that that’s what it means to understand a woman that was pushed to her limits and beyond.
Has this movie changed your view on love? My view on love? Things change my view on love all the time but what I would say is that with this character, when she married him, his father had turned his back on him and he had no part of Gucci. And when she killed him, they were divorced. So anybody that thinks Patrizia was just a se-xy gold digger – they’re wrong. I believe that she went through a lot.
You’ve said previously that you were scared making ‘A Star Is Born’ do you still get scared when acting? I was less scared this time, I was. And I don’t know why, I just was.
Finally, how does it feel to reconnect with your fans again after everything we have all been through with the Pandemic? This is a wonderful event. I love seeing the people of London here. There are hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of people here. It’s amazing to see.
Thank You
