THE WEDDING OF LAUREN HOPKINS AND ROB STEVENS
Kidderminster couple Lauren Hopkins and Rob Stevens enjoyed a dream wedding in the autumn, held at St Cassian’s church in Chaddesley Corbett followed by a reception at Brockencote Hall.
The couple got engaged during a holiday in the South of France and Rob told Lauren he was collecting the hire car and to wait for him. Little did she know Rob was collecting her all-time favourite classic car, a 1963 convertible Mercedes SL230, in which they toured the Cote D’Azur.
Rob still had a few more surprises in his pocket (literally) and he took Lauren to the fantastic Café du Jardin, Le Chevre D’or where they walked the gardens overlooking the picturesque Mediterranean Sea and he has asked her to spend the rest of their lives together, celebrating afterwards with their favourite champagne, Rosé Veuve Clicquot.
Lauren said: “We wanted to get married where we both grew up. I was christened in the parish, so it meant a lot to get married at St Cassian’s Church. Brockencote Hall was a stone’s throw away from the church so was the perfect location to have our reception. We fell in love with the hall when we looked around it, it is so elegant in such an incredible dreamy setting we knew it was the one.
“Our favourite wine and champagne are Whispering Angel Rose and Veuve Clicquot Champagne, so we made sure these were part of our day. When guests arrived to Brockencote, from walking back from the church, they were blown away with our rosé and champagne cart. The perfect drinks reception!”
The couple also both love classic cars and the classic two-seater, convertible Porsche Speedster was perfect for their day, also acting as Lauren’s something blue and something borrowed.
Lauren looked stunning in a Rebecca Ingram gown, which was paired with a Savin London Cathedral length veil from Sarah Elizabeth Bridal and some beautiful Jimmy Choo heels. In the evening she switched to a 1920’s flapper inspired dress by Nadine Merabi.
The wedding breakfast tables were dressed with elegant country garden chic flowers and romantic white tapered candles. A scent of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir lingered throughout the room.
Lauren added: “Our most precious moment was driving off in the Porsche 356 Speedster, just after we got married, and having half an hour, with the roof down, driving around the country lanes of Chaddesley Corbett, in the sunshine, just us two. It was the best feeling and we’ll never forget it.”
For their honeymoon the couple enjoyed two weeks in the Scottish Highlands and also have a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy planned next summer.
