FINE DINING EXPERIENCES

MICHE L IN CHE F ROB PALMER JOINS THYME

Sauce Supper Club is a dining event delivering relaxed fine dining experiences through a series of pop up kitchen events. Chefs from Michelin starred restaurants and highly commended chefs go along to showcase their food and talents with the emphasis on bringing amazing food experiences to new audiences.

It’s lovely to have a favourite restaurant and look forward to that one dish you always order. With Sauce Supper Club, people can discover their next favourite restaurant and next ‘must have again as soon as possible’ dish!

Chefs from all over the country are brought in so diners can try the food they have been stalking on Instagram without having to travel away from home. With great access to the chefs, it really is a special occasion.

Historically the Sauce Supper Club would tour the UK from Cornwall to Edinburgh and everywhere in between, however when the pandemic hit they had to remodel the business - and quick!

With all their events cancelled, they got together with Tom Shepherd, formerly of Adams in Birmingham, to deliver restaurant quality food, prepped ready to reheat and plate at home. Looking for a kitchen to work from led them to their now permanent base at Thyme Kitchen, Lichfield. There they have opened a brunch cafe in the daytime serving stunning breakfasts along with more unusual dishes of Persian eggs, Shaksouka, and their infamous breakfast naan - a real hit.

With the current situation, having a permanent base to offer the supper clubs has been fantastic. Oli Martin, MasterChef: The Professionals finalist 2018 and former Head Chef of Hipping Hall will be popping up at Thyme Kitchen on November 12 and13 cooking a six-course tasting menu for £75 per person.

In addition to the monthly Supper Clubs, Rob Palmer formerly of Peels Restaurant at Hampton Manor, is taking over the evenings, offering a five course tasting menu. Rob led Peel’s restaurant to their first Michelin Star in 2016, along with 4 AA Rosettes at Hampton Manor. In a new chapter for Rob and with his first solo restaurant Toffs by Rob Palmer just a few months away from opening in Solihull, Rob is going to take over the kitchen at Thyme Kitchen to give diners a sample of his new menu on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights throughout October, November and December. Rob has designed a stunning five-course menu reflecting his new Toff’s menu.

Beth Toovey, of Thyme and the Sauce Supper Club, said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for Supper Club to have a resident chef of Rob’s calibre based at Thyme Kitchen in the run up to Christmas as people plan their special nights out.”
