NPAIN FOCUS

Chief Executive of the NPA, Paul Rees, attended the Spring NPA Scottish forum near Glasgow, where NPA members provided strong direction to inform his discussions with Scottish Government and Community Pharmacy Scotland.

The MD of NPA Insurance, Lisa Banks, was also a guest speaker at the forum, chaired by the new NPA Scottish Board member, Sehar Shahid. Lisa provided some great insight on community pharmacy professional indemnity and explained how the NPA specialist in-house insurance company is supporting pharmacy practice development.

Paul plans to return to Scotland in June and again in September to meet members at the Scottish Autumn NPA forum, running in conjunction with the Scottish Pharmacy Trade Show at Inchyra Hotel, Falkirk.

Members have benefitted from several new NPA resources recently, including a Scottish Patient Safety Report to use as a quality improvement tool with pharmacy

teams, a Pharmacy First Scotland training module for those new to the medicine counter, and a suite of independent prescribing resources, all free within NPA membership.

NPA Learning Academy has been further enhanced, based on student and supervisor feedback, with all activities now being interactive, plus more efficient module completion.

Earlier this year we were pleased to launch an innovative and integrated GPhC accredited level 3 NPA pharmacy technician course.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of both learners and pharmacies, it aligns with the increasing responsibilities and professional recognition of pharmacy technicians.

Later this year, the NPA will again host a round table for Scottish Pharmacy Policy Leads, taking forward collaborative working for the benefit of patient safety and the pharmacy workforce.

We are also looking forward to hosting our first NPA masterclass in Scotland, as part of a series of NPA events UK-wide.

We will lead a Pharmacy Policy Panel Event at the Scottish Pharmacy Trade Show on 18th September on the impact of legislative and regulatory changes within the profession. We would be delighted if you join in the debate.

An easy way to keep up to date with all the latest NPA resources is to join the NPA Scotland WhatsApp group.
