For many housebound patients, he is more than a delivery driver. He is a lifeline, offering care, compassion, and reassurance to those in need

extra mile’ (pun intended!). His kindness extends beyond prescription delivery, often including weekly groceries, scones, or newspapers for his patients.

When a regular patient didn't answer the door one day, Ross's intuition and persistence led him to track down a relative in the same building. He returned with the patient's son, only to find the patient unresponsive.

Acting swiftly, Ross immediately called 999 and performed CPR until help arrived, ultimately saving the patient's life.

On another occasion, he found an elderly patient on the floor inside her home after she did not answer the door. He gained access to the house, assessed the patient, and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. The patient's daughter expressed immense gratitude for Ross's support.

Ross’s dedication and proactive approach have made him an integral part of the team, enhancing the seamless delivery of pharmaceutical care. Each day, Ross ensures that prescriptions are collected twice, enabling the team to process them promptly.

Ross carefully plans his delivery route, providing a copy to the pharmacy team for safety and query purposes. This ensures the team is aware of his route and can quickly address any patient queries regarding their medication delivery.

He keeps the team informed of any patient concerns he notices during his rounds and works closely with local surgeries and residential units.

His proactive approach to liaising with other team members and health care providers ensures that the most vulnerable patients receive the support they need. Ross ensures that the stand-in driver is fully briefed on ongoing issues, leaving detailed handover notes during his holidays.

Ross exemplifies the ethos of Barnton Pharmacy, bringing their high standard of care to those who cannot visit the pharmacy in person. For many housebound patients, he is
