As he continues to lead by example and champion the cause of community pharmacy, Alasdair MacIntyre leaves behind a lasting example that will continue to shape the future of healthcare for generations to come

embracing new responsibilities and utilizing his skills well before contractual frameworks like Pharmacy First Plus were established. Alongside advancing the clinical development of the pharmacy in Glasgow, Alasdair emerged as a leader in service development, professional advocacy, and political engagement within the pharmacy community.

His tenure on local and national contractor forums, representing Community Pharmacy Scotland, exemplifies his commitment to advocating for pharmacy's interests. Through constructive collaboration, Alasdair has played a pivotal role in developing essential services and fostering positive relationships with health boards.

Alasdair's impact extends beyond individual practice settings, shaping the broader pharmacy landscape through his involvement in national forums like the Scottish Pharmacy Board of the RPS and the National Education for Scotland (NES) Pharmacy team. His dedication to supporting the next generation of pharmacists is reflected in his mentorship of preregistration (now Foundation) pharmacists and his role as a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP).

Alasdair shows a willingness and commitment that few pharmacists demonstrate, regularly going above and beyond for the community pharmacy network and crucially the wider profession. He is an innovator and a collaborative leader and has been at the forefront of change for many years. This was recently recognised by the professional body when he was awarded with a Fellowship.

During the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alasdair led the local response, ensuring that the voice of community pharmacy was heard, and that appropriate support was provided to contractors and teams navigating immense workload and personal risks. In his community pharmacy Alasdair is leading the development of a common clinical conditions service and a teach and treat hub for this service to ensure that his knowledge, experience, and expertise is shared with others for the benefit of patients in the community. He also continues to work closely with the NHS board to

ensure that services in primary care are more integrated.

Alasdair's contributions are not merely professional—they are deeply personal. Alongside his wife, also a dedicated pharmacist, Alasdair's daughter has joined the family business, embodying the spirit of collaboration and excellence that defines their approach to pharmacy practice.

Alasdair MacIntyre's remarkable contributions to community pharmacy are a testament to his enduring dedication and leadership. As we applaud his achievements, we recognize that Alasdair's visionary leadership and innovative approach to

healthcare delivery have set a precedent for excellence and inspired countless pharmacists to follow in his footsteps. His commitment to patient care and community well-being has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues, healthcare professionals, and community members alike.

As he continues to lead by example and champion the cause of community pharmacy, Alasdair MacIntyre's leaves behind a lasting example that will continue to shape the future of healthcare for generations to come.
