Meet the global investors making it happen in the Philippines

AS THE PHILIPPINES PREPARES TO CHAIR ASEAN IN 2026, its investment momentum is already making waves. With the Board of Investments (BOI) at the helm, the country is fast becoming a prime destination for global businesses seeking sustainable, high- impact opportunities in Southeast Asia. The BOI is facilitating a steady

stream of strategic investments – from renewable energy and healthcare, to high-tech agriculture and advanced manufacturing.

RENEWABLE ENERGY LEADERSHIP The Philippines’ decision to open its renewable energy sector to full foreign ownership in 2022 has unlocked significant investments. Since then,

around 20 gigawatts (GW) of new clean power capacity have been installed. With strong private sector

participation, the country is steadily moving toward its goal of 35 per cent renewables in the power mix by 2030, up from 22 per cent today. All these address not just the cost of electricity, but also support the transition to clean energy and long-term energy stability.

SMART MANUFACTURING Global brands such as Dyson, Texas Instruments and Allegro Microsystems are expanding operations in the Philippines, tapping into its strategic location and skilled talent. The StB Gigafactory and IMI’s EV Components Plant further strengthen the country’s position in the regional electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. And a new digital infrastructure is taking shape. BOI-approved projects, such as YCO Cloud Data Center and DigitalEdge, are enhancing the country’s digital capacity.

HEALTHCARE INNOVATION BOI recently approved the CyberKnife Radiotherapy Service at Asian Hospital, the first AI-enabled cancer treatment system in the Philippines.

AGRI-INDUSTRIAL GROWTH BOI is also driving agri-industrial innovation. Metro Pacific Fresh Farms’ Php1 billion high-tech greenhouse in Bulacan employs hydroponics and drip irrigation tech to reduce water, land and chemical use by up to 90 per cent.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND LOGISTICS The country’s logistical infrastructure is also expanding. Projects such as NAIA Modernization and Bulacan Airport are improving connectivity across islands and positioning the Philippines as the gateway to ASEAN.
