Commerce never sleeps in the financial capital of the US
W
HEN IT COMES to global business hubs, New York City is the undisputed heavyweight – the GOAT (greatest of all time), if you will. It’s home to the
headquarters of dozens of Fortune 500 giants, including Citigroup, Pfizer and MetLife, but commerce here goes far beyond boardrooms. This is the beating heart of American media, the epicentre of fashion, and the capital of culture, where Broadway stages dazzle, blockbuster deals are made over Manhattans, and some of the world’s best museums set the standard. What makes New York especially remarkable, though, is its refusal to stand still. The city is in a constant state of reinvention – evolving, expanding and always leading the way.

International (EWR). The airspace above NYC is the busiest in the world, and in 2024 a record 145.9 million passengers passed through these three airports. year and introduced new flights to Sicily, and JetBlue, whose Terminal 5 is getting a multibillion-dollar overhaul. LGA recently underwent an US$8 billion transformation, considered the first complete rebuild of an American airport in 25 years. Delta leads in service there, with more than 220 daily flights; American Airlines comes in second with over 100. While EWR has been in the news lately due to air traffic control issues, the FAA ensures it’s safe to fly – which is good news for United, which operates a whopping 600 flights per day. This year the airline introduced five new routes from EWR, including to Nuuk, Greenland, and Bilbao, Spain.
Business hotels In New York, location is king: you want to stay where the work is. If your meetings are in the Financial District, check into the Wall Street Hotel, an elegant 180-room property that the Paspaley family, an Australian pearling dynasty, opened in 2022 in their
