CHAPTER TWO • OFID OPERATIONS BY SECTOR

Multisectoral: Complex challenges require joined-up solutions

OFID finances projects that ‘cut across’ more than one sector

Strategic context

Simple sectoral approaches to complex national and global sustainable development challenges are inadequate. Recognizing that all 17 of the SDGs are interlinked, OFID works hard to promote a better under- standing of the interdependence within and across sectors. OFID also finances projects that ‘cut across’ more than one sector, such as financial initiatives that support agricul- ture or education.

By the end of December 2018, on a cumulative basis, OFID had approved some $994.7m for multisectoral operations.
