Agriculture: Support continues to grow
OFID supports SDG 2 by promoting sustainable food production and more resilient agriculture
Strategic context
According to the World Food Programme, 821 million people – one in nine – still go to bed on an empty stomach each night. Even more – one in three – suffer from some form of malnutrition.
The SDGs – the global blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all – pledge to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030 under SDG 2.
OFID works to support SDG 2 through promoting sustainable food production and more resilient agriculture across the world. At the end of 2018, OFID’s cumulative commitments to the agriculture sector stood at $3,142.5m.
