GREEN BUSINESS AWARD WINNER

Congratulations to the 2025 Green Business of the Year winner, Sardinha Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Not only does this business help keep our city active and healthy, but they also take extra steps to in- corporate Green Business actions in their operations like reusing office supplies, purchasing from local com- panies, and reducing waste by using reusable towels to wipe down their equip- ment.

` Read packaging carefully and be sure to apply the correct amount of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides for your lawn size and type.

By making easy changes to daily activities at least one day a week, such as reducing driving, taking the light rail or bus, refueling after dark, or riding a bike to work, Maricopa County residents and businesses can have a great impact on reducing ozone concentrations and helping keep our air clean.

ONLY RAIN IN THE STORM DRAIN

The City of Avondale is a member of STORM.

Lush green lawns can be great for playing and relaxing, but it’s important to use fertilizers and lawn chemicals correctly. If used improperly, these chemicals can get washed down into our storm sewers, retention basins, and rivers, and eventually into our water supply. Follow these tips to help keep our water clean and healthy.

` Check the weather so you don’t fertilize right before a big rain when chemicals can more easily wash off into the streets.

` Consider converting your turf into water-wise “Xeriscape” landscape! Check out the City of Avondale Water Conservation Rebate Programs for ways to save money and water.
