President Emeritus | Dr. Barry Russell was MTC’s fourth president, serving from 1999 to 2005. During that time, he helped create the 150-acre MTC Enterprise Campus. After his tenure at MTC, Dr. Russell served as president of the SC Technical College System from 2006 until his retirement in 2010. While at the System, Dr. Russell has played a vital role in connecting businesses and employees with programs such as Apprenticeship Carolina™ and QuickJobs Carolina™.

President Emeritus | Dr. Marshall (Sonny) White, Jr. was the college’s fifth president, serving nine years from 2006 until his retirement in 2015. Prior to leading MTC, Dr. White led Guilford Technical Community College in Greensboro, N.C. In addition to his service to MTC, he was also a board member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, EngenuitySC, Central SC Alliance, MEBA and more. Governor Nikki Haley awarded him the Order of the Palmetto in 2015.
