MTC RANKS NATIONALLY IN DIVERSITY EDUCATION


Diverse: Issues in Higher Education ranked MTC as one of the top colleges in the nation for minority students earning associate degrees. MTC was number 65 among the nation’s community colleges for associate degrees awarded to African-Americans. This is the 11th consecutive year MTC has been designated as a top 100 associate degree producer among the approximately 1,200 technical and community colleges in the country.


“Midlands Technical College provides pathways to higher education and career training for a broad array of students and actively addresses the under-representation of African-Americans in higher education,” said MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames. “This report demonstrates our commitment to diversity and shows that our rigorous curriculum is accessible to all.”


MTC IS 2021 EQUITY AWARD WINNER


This Spring, the South Carolina Association of Technical College Commissioners announced MTC had received 2021 Equity Award for fair and impartial delivery of educational programs and services. The award will be presented at the South Carolina Association of Technical College Commissioners annual Commissioners’ Academy in Columbia next February.


Equity, access, and diversity are key components of MTC’s longstanding mission, vision, and value statements. But they aren’t just words on paper. They are actions that the Commission, college administration, faculty, and staff work hard to bring to life every day.
