Rhythm The Number 8 Movement – it’s gr8! Watch Video Lesson Our voices are made physically. If we move our bodies differently, we can change how we speak.
o When you speak normally, how do you move your head / upper body / hands? Are the movements light or heavy, sustained or sudden, direct or indirect?
To adopt a more English rhythm, we can move our hand in the shape of the number 8 on its side. Notice how the movement goes upwards in the centre (not downwards).
o Depending on which adjectives you chose on the previous page, ensure your hand/arm movement is more Light (or Heavy), Sustained (or Sudden), Direct (or Indirect) while moving.
o Read the phrase she went to the shops while doing the number 8 movement.
