In 2007, a television advert for L’Oréal was criticised by the authority because it exaggerated the effect of using mascara on natural eyelashes. In 2008, an advertisement for the iPhone said it could access “all of the internet”. In fact, the phone lacked support for plugins like Flash, so the advert was banned. It’s imperative to have such an association to ensure that companies aren’t lying to the public.
