Three Lancashire women took to the skies before diving back to earth, all in the name of a charity close to their hearts. Helen Gaskell, Vicky Cross and Francesca Kinsella-Calverley flew to 14,000 feet, before leaping from the plane and reaching speeds of 120mph. The trio, who all work at Preston-based law firm Napthens, had never skydived before but landed safely, having raised almost £2,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Eleven Lancashire good causes have been awarded more than £30,000 in grants from the Nelson-based Marsden Building Society Charitable Foundation. They included: Pennine Lancashire Community Farm, T.E.A.M R.I.S.E Project, The Flowhesion Foundation in Burnley, Age UK Lancashire, Burnley Boys and Girls Club, Burnley Youth Theatre, Cancer Help in Garstang, Connect Community Group CIC in Lytham St Annes, Nature Warriors in Nelson, First Kick Foundation in Lytham and Our Lady and St Edwards Catholic Primary School PTA in Preston.

Lancaster-based law firm Pre-Law has relocated to new premises in the city centre after supporting more than 200 clients in its first year of trading. An annual charity golf day organised by Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors, which brings together golfers from businesses across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, has raised £5,000 for Rossendale Hospice. The event was first organised by the firm in 2006 and has now raised around £89,000 for the hospice over the past 20 years.

The new venture, AI Bird, is headquartered in Burnley and aims to help businesses across the UK streamline their operations through smart, tailored automation systems.
