SPOTLIGHT Dominic Simmons

Associate project manager North Star Projects

As her profile grew, so did her confidence. “It helped people get to know me. It gave me some confidence going into networking settings because it was something to talk about.”

Away from work, life is full with her two daughters, Annie and Grace, and family dog Otto. “They definitely are full time,” she smiles.

Her advice for today’s Sub36 cohort is rooted in her own lived experience. She says: “Believe in yourself and find the opportunity to take yourself out of your comfort zone because that’s what makes you stronger.”

Today, she is an equity partner at Harrison Drury, head of its commercial property team, and plays a key role, heading up the firm’s growing property and construction division. It’s a role she relishes.

She says: “It is a people-involved post and that is what I enjoy most about my role and it has become a focus in the past two or three years.”

The future is about balance and shaping the next generation at Harrison Drury. Hannah says: “A big part of what I enjoy is seeing people develop.”

As an associate project manager, I support the structured delivery of complex client and internal projects across multiple sectors.

What are your ambitions? Where do you see yourself in five years?

NETWORK AND ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Step away from the office and into the woodland for an energising morning of outdoor adventure and networking at our first Sub36 event of 2026, held at Outdoor Elements Burnley.

Set in a unique natural environment, this event offers Lancashire’s young professionals the chance to connect in a completely different setting whilst taking part in a range of guided outdoor activities, including: zip-lining through the woodland, archery challenges and fire-lighting including baking your own bread over the fire.

A spokesman for Outdoor Elements said: “We are delighted to be hosting the next Sub36 event and sharing our woodland with Lancashire’s next generation of leaders.

“It’s the perfect team-building setting to spark ideas, build meaningful connections, and challenge yourself with something different”.

The event is taking place on April 29 at Outdoor Elements Burnley, Pump House Dean Wood Trapp Lane, Burnley, BB12 7JD between 9 and 11am.

I aim to pivot into education project management, helping to address the gaps for SEND learners and supporting transitioning military personnel into civilian careers.

Tell us something about you that people might not know. What do you do away from work? Any interesting hobbies?

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons, watching TV series, learning Spanish, helping service leavers transition into suitable and sustainable career paths. I also like watching sports and studying. I’ve also proposed education reform ideas into educational charities and local businesses.

What’s the value to you and your business of being part of the Sub36 network?

It allows me to build meaningful regional relationships, learn from other like-minded people, to bring a fresh perspective back to North Star and for myself too. It also helps to strengthen our local business presence, talent pipeline and understanding how clients want to operate, which is key within consultancy.
