We oversee a number of attractions as well as Visit Blackpool. The core metrics for us are volume and revenue, and that’s our bread and butter, that’s what we live and die by.


We are in a seaside town, so I’ll use a bit of a cheesy analogy, but for us it’s all about ‘splashes and ripples’.


We make a lot of noise and we go out with the high impact stuff. It’s television and radio, but nothing in isolation. What are the ripples? That is paid social media, it’s influencer activity.


We are in the business of selling smiles, we’re in the business of selling memories, and that has to come through in the lifeblood of everything that we put out.


So, when we’re leaning on to agencies we want them to have that same passion that we have for our attractions, for our resort, for our destination.


We make sure that we’re not working in isolation. If we are doing something it benefits Pleasure Beach. If Pleasure Beach is doing something it benefits the hotels.


One of the core things for us is that advocacy piece. It’s making sure that


everybody who comes here has that smile, leaves with a smile and tells their friends. There is nothing more powerful than word of mouth.


There are non-negotiables when it comes to working with agencies, the obvious ones are to be transparent and accountable. But there is also the willingness to evolve and not be set in your ways.


The way we engage with media evolves continually, and I think we have that expectation of our agencies. As we see more AI led creative, there’s going to be more yearning for authenticity, for real content from real people.
