▲ Skills, innovation and business support start-up growth services provider IN4 Group, founded by Blackburn entrepreneur Mo Isap, has acquired Approved Training (ATL), a Midlands-based apprenticeship provider specialising in manufacturing and engineering, in a six-figure deal. The move significantly strengthens the group’s national apprenticeship and workforce productivity offer.

▲ Law firm Brabners has reported its eighth consecutive year of growth, with turnover surpassing £60m as the firm grows to almost 600 colleagues and prepares to enter its next phase of client-centred, scalable growth. The firm, which has an office in Preston, saw revenue rise by 11.7 per cent to £60.2m for the financial year ending April 2025.
▲ One of Blackpool’s most iconic venues is set for a new chapter after plans were agreed to transfer its operation to Blackpool Council’s wholly owned tourism company. The Grade II listed Winter Gardens is presently run by Blackpool Entertainment Company Ltd (BECL). Under the new plans, BECL will be dissolved, with all assets and employees transferring to Blackpool Tourism Ltd.
▲ Blackpool’s £350m Talbot Gateway development has taken another step towards full occupancy, with 300 workers relocating to the heart of the town centre. The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) has moved into the offices near Blackpool North train station.
▲ University of Lancashire is celebrating 10 years of creating medical doctors. Since the start of the Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) course, 516 doctors have graduated and many of those have gone on to work in NHS hospitals throughout the country. The five-year course has seen undergraduates studying at its Preston, Burnley and Westlakes campuses. Dr Takanayi Mureyi (pictured), is one of those doctors who is a first year resident at Oxford University Hospitals Trust after graduating from the university in 2024.
▲ Heysham 2 power station became the UK’s most productive nuclear power station after achieving a record-breaking generation milestone over the Christmas period. Over its 37-year lifetime, the EDF-owned station has generated almost 311TWh of low carbon electricity, enough to power every home in Lancashire for more than 180 years.
▲ Refrigerated vehicle manufacturer Solomon Commercials has been given the green light for a major expansion at its Kingsway site. It will pave the way for a £14m investment. The Rossendale business acquired 11 acres of land next to its existing headquarters in 2025.
▲ Blackburn water industry specialists Rosewood Engineering has been acquired by London based Empower Technical Services for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 1990, Rosewood has built a trusted client base made up of UK utility companies in addition to principal civil and mechanical contractors.
▲ Nine iconic telephone boxes in Preston city centre are set to be reimagined using bespoke LED technology. Digital specialists ADI has unveiled plans for a new public realm installation on Market Street, where the famous row of Grade II listed boxes will be transformed to showcase curated digital artwork and community-led content.
