20 SUB36
My View THESE ARE THE PEOPLE
THAT DRIVE LANCASHIRE’S POST PANDEMIC RECOVERY by Michele Lawty-Jones
Director, Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub
The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub is delighted to be sponsoring the Sub36 programme again this year.
Covid-19 has had an adverse impact on younger employees – we want to encourage Lancashire businesses to continue to invest in young people to grow their talent base and boost productivity.
Taking the opportunity to highlight the contribution that young people make to business in Lancashire is key. We wanted to hear fantastic stories of young people’s achievements and their impact so that they can be highlighted to employers and inspire young people still in education across the county.
As we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic the value of Sub36 is in recognising and celebrating the contribution that these young people have made to businesses, people and the wider
Lancashire economy is greater than ever.
The young people making up this year’s nominees were drawn from a wide range of sectors including public, private and the third sector. Despite these differences, what became clear as the judging panel reviewed the nominations was that they all shared truly inspiring stories of how each and every one of them responded to the unprecedented challenges thrown up by the pandemic.
This made the judging for this year’s list particularly difficult and in many ways a humbling but hugely rewarding experience.
It is these young, hardworking, innovative and enterprising people that will play a key and central role in driving the post pandemic recovery across Lancashire and judging by the calibre and depth of the individuals within this feature, the county is in safe hands.
