About us

Beyond Law Group was established in 2017 and owns and operates three legal practices; Beyond Corporate, McAlister Family Law and Beyond Conveyancing, all of which offer a niche, high-quality client proposition within a large modern and scaled business environment. This year, Beyond Law Group was recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing businesses by the FT.

How we support our employees

In addition to our group-wide mentoring scheme, we have established an apprenticeship scheme and academy approach to training and development, which is designed to enhance the diverse range of skills required of our lawyers.

Each employee has monthly one-to-one meetings to discuss career progression, performance and work-life balance. Senior teams are also mentored in facilitation and empowerment (on a peer-to-peer basis) rather than command and control to enable our people to enhance their skills and gain greater opportunity to take responsibility.

Why it’s important to us

A key reward is the retention and continued development of our talented people, but additionally creating an environment which exudes positivity and modernity has helped us tremendously with client acquisition and retention.

The diversity of the business enables our lawyers to benefit from a more rounded career experience, and a greater perspective of value, social and commercial justice and accessibility.

As a business we are seeing productivity levels and revenues increase dramatically due to greater investment in and greater transparency and collaboration with our people.

Matt Fleetwood Founder and chief executive, Beyond Law Group

About us

We are an independent, fifth-generation wholesaler delivering a one- stop-shop of food, drinks and non-foods to caterers in the hospitality, care and education sectors.

We are based in Burnley and deliver from the borders down to Birmingham.

How we support our employees To help our teams lead healthier lifestyles we provide fresh fruit bowls, free fitness classes, standing desks and reduced-cost gym memberships for all employees.

We also have a fully qualified counsellor regularly visiting the site to offer free counselling to any employee that needs it.

As a family business, we have long been guided by the ethics of honesty and fairness, which has created a kind and caring culture which people want to be part of.

Why it’s important to us Being a good, kind employer has numerous benefits.

Not only do you have a happier, more motivated team, but it increases employee loyalty and makes it easier to recruit.

Many of our people have been with us over 20 years, and Kath on our telesales team has been with us an incredible 33 years!

About us

Recognised for our strategic vision for our support of clients and for our commitment to colleague development we were named independent law firm of the year at the 2021 British Legal Awards.

Home to nationally recognised experts in a number of practice areas we have more than 400 colleagues working across our Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire offices.

How we support our employees

One of our core values is to ‘stand together’. We do this by supporting colleagues however we can.

Focuses include support on continuous learning, wellbeing, EDI and sustainability. We regularly bring our people together via virtual and in- person events (for example our annual all colleague conference) and provide regular senior leadership updates on how the business is progressing.

Why it’s important to us

Our approach allows us to put in place the support our colleagues need to develop both personally and professionally, realising their ambitions.

By providing that support early on, we help colleagues unlock their true potential, enabling the development of the lawyers of the future, allowing us to attract and retain the best talent, and in turn securing our future success.

Tom Smith Partner, Brabners

About us

We’re Burnley College. We help build the futures and change the lives of our learners and local communities, through our amazing people. It doesn’t happen by accident; we work hard to recruit the right people. The ones who share our values, our goals, our high standards and hard work.

How we support our employees

We pay competitive salaries and offer a suite of employee benefits with the physical, mental, and financial wellbeing of our staff in mind.

These include generous holidays and pension scheme, free parking, discounted membership of a state-of-the-art gym, access to Doggy Day Care, funded training, services to assist with work/life balance (like a Friday night Takeaway) and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Why it’s important to us

We succeed because of our staff and must provide support to help them through this time of ambiguity, where the only certainty is uncertainty.

It demonstrates our care for our greatest asset and reminds our teams why they work so hard for our success. It also means staff are in the best place to guide our learners, also navigating this ambiguity.
