Burnley College supports employers in the race to reduce their carbon footprint – and save the planet

Doing your part to slow global warming and save planet Earth for future generations makes great business sense.

Looking directly at the bottom line, mapping your carbon footprint will help you to reduce your overall energy spend as well as helping you identify the source of any problems - such as rocketing electricity consumption.

Beyond that, more and more business partners and members of the supply chain are seeking assurances that those they trade with share their ‘green’ ethos and are actively choosing to work with businesses who are on a mission to reduce their carbon footprint.

And with images of melting ice-caps filling our television screens, more and more consumers are choosing the ‘green’ options, too.

Here’s how we can help.

At our £100m campus, we’re developing a Low Carbon Hub which will be a centre of excellence and expertise in the delivery of low-carbon training. Open to all businesses, the Hub will bridge the current skills and knowledge gap for employers and open up a range of new business opportunities.

Burnley College’s Low Carbon Hub will deliver:

Workforce and Management Training - Develop a key understanding of the importance of adopting low-carbon technologies and working practices and empowering individuals to become green champions in the workplace.

Energy Management - A hands-on introduction to the latest equipment, working practices and technologies which will help your business reduce its carbon footprint.

Technology and Monitoring Solutions - Understand the energy demands of business through the latest monitoring technology and identify where savings can be made.

Paul Sharples, business solutions manager at Burnley College, says: “We’re committed to ensuring that Lancashire businesses lead the Green Revolution - just like they did in the Industrial Revolution.

“We understand that there’s uncertainty and even confusion about how - and why - employers should adopt low-carbon working practices and adapt their ways of working. The Low Carbon Hub at Burnley College will provide the answers and offer bespoke solutions, big and small.”

There’s not a moment to waste. Now’s the time to act and discover what steps you can take to reduce your carbon output.
