APPRENTICESHIPS: GROW YOUR OWN, ON YOUR TERMS
East Lancashire Apprenticeships (ELA), part of the East Lancashire Learning Group, leads the way in helping employers recognise that the best talent is often right on their doorstep. We connect businesses with motivated people who want to earn, learn and build lasting careers here in Lancashire.
From engineering and manufacturing to health, digital, business support and professional services, our apprenticeships are designed around real industry needs and real ambition. This is not just recruitment. It is succession planning with purpose.
WHY IT WORKS:
• Training reflects live workflows and priorities within your business.
• You shape behaviours, skills and culture from day one.
• Apprentices see a future with you and grow with you.
At ELLG, we see apprenticeships as more than jobs. They are the start of extraordinary careers and the foundation of East Lancashire’s future success.
UPSKILLING TODAY’S WORKFORCE, DEVELOPING TOMORROW’S LEADERS
Lancashire’s competitiveness today depends on the people already in work. Through Lancashire Adult Learning, the Group delivers targeted training to upskill existing staff: digital confidence for teams still working on paper; English, maths and ESOL for communication and compliance; leadership development for people promoted on talent but never formally supported. The aim is simple: better output, more confidence, less churn.
At the other end of the ladder, East Lancashire UC delivers higher-level and degree-level study locally. Employers can grow future leaders while keeping them in the business – and in the region. High-level skills and professional networks stay anchored in East Lancashire instead of disappearing down the M65.
These programmes are shaped with employers and built around real roles, so learning feeds straight back into day-to-day performance.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT ‘TRAINING’. IT’S ABOUT ECONOMIC STRATEGY.
EARLY ACCESS: FROM 16 TO “CAREER READY”
Through technical study routes, T Levels and apprenticeship pathways, young people spend meaningful time in real workplaces – structured placements with responsibility, not just a quick look round.
That solves two problems at once: learners see the reality of the job and can decide if it’s for them; employers get an early, low-risk view of future talent long before the “We need someone by Monday” moment. It also tackles the old belief that ambitious 16–20 year olds must leave Lancashire to build a serious career.
ELLG is not “a place to send apprentices” or “somewhere to book a course.” It is an economic partner to East Lancashire’s employers.
