What Can US Sailing
Do for You? US Sailing is committed to helping you discover and enjoy the beauty, relaxation, challenges and friendships of sailing. As part of this commitment we offer:
KEELBOAT CERTIFICATION SYSTEM with its various levels of training and certification:
Basic Keelboat. To responsibly skipper and crew a simple daysailing keelboat in familiar waters in light to moderate wind and sea conditions.
Basic Cruising. To responsibly skipper and crew an auxiliary powered cruising sailboat during daylight hours within sight of land in moderate wind and sea conditions.
Bareboat Cruising. To responsibly skipper, crew or bareboat charter an inboard auxiliary powered cruising sailboat within sight of land to a port or an anchorage during daylight hours in moderate to strong wind and sea conditions.
Coastal Navigation. To properly use traditional navigation techniques and electronic navigation for near coastal passage making.
Coastal Passage Making. To responsibly skipper and crew an inboard auxiliary powered cruising sailboat for coastal or offshore passages in strong to heavy conditions, including zero visibility and nighttime, in unfamiliar waters out of sight of land.
Celestial Navigation. To navigate using celestial techniques and integrating celestial with traditional navigation techniques.
Cruising Catamaran Endorsement. To responsibly skipper and crew on a cruising catamaran near shore with at least 10 knots of wind.

Offshore Passage Making. To responsibly skipper and crew an inboard auxiliary powered cruising sailboat to any destination worldwide.
Performance Sailing. To analyze, adjust and shape sails for maximum speed, and backstay and jib leads for optimum performance.
SMALL BOAT CERTIFICATION SYSTEM which is available for dinghy, daysailer and multihull sailors in two wind speed ranges: light and heavy air.
US Sailing certified instructors help you achieve new skills and knowledge using up- to-date and safe methods.

Course materials presented in a highly visual format to help you gain competency and confidence in your sailing skills and knowledge.
The Official Logbook, recognized nationally, to document your US Sailing certifications and experience when chartering boats nationally.
