75% Case study: COLORCOAT® REFURBISHMENT


We completed an overhaul of a 1960s industrial warehouse, which delivered an annual operational energy saving of approximately £130,000 and enhanced the building’s performance for up to 40 more years with Colorcoat® products.


Due to the age of the building, its aesthetics and general condition were very poor, and the fibre cement cladding contained asbestos that needed to be removed to avoid harmful impact on occupants. The building envelope was also leading to increased energy use, CO2


emissions and associated energy costs.


To meet these needs, a full strip and re-sheet refurbishment with a built-up steel cladding system was carried out, along with an upgrade to the building’s services


A full analysis of the existing building using simulation modelling software (IES) was complete prior to the renovation


Colorcoat® pre-finished steel products were used in the refurbishment, facilitating a 75% reduction in energy consumption, a 75% reduction in CO2


emissions (625 tonnes), and a 75%


reduction in associated operating costs. The overall appearance and longevity of the building were also dramatically improved.
