REFURBISHMENT

Refurbishment is a highly cost effective and sustainable way for building owners to extend the life of an existing building envelope. Systems can be engineered to totally resheet or overclad the existing cladding material.

Building owners may refurbish a building for many reasons, ranging from an aesthetic upgrade to changes in performance and functionality.

The most common benefits of a refurbishment are to:

Improve the EPC rating of a building

Reduce energy consumption through improvements to the insulation and air-tightness of the building envelope

Increase the asset value of the property

Improve the working environment for occupants

Expand space and/or building configuration Raise rental income and rentability Enhance aesthetics and company image

Replace a building envelope that has become damaged and costly to repair.

Low and zero carbon (LZC) technologies

Refurbishment of the building envelope also presents building owners with the opportunity to install LZC technologies, such as:

Roof mounted photovoltaic (PV) systems

Solar air heating systems, such as Colorcoat Renew SC®, which provide a pre-heat function for gas fired-space warm air heating systems. These use the energy from the sun to raise the temperature of the external air feed and so reduce the amount of gas needed to heat the building to the required temperature.

Meeting your needs through refurbishment

A refurbishment can be a big commitment, but when the right products are used it has long-lasting benefits that can perform for the lifetime of the building.

Whatever your reasons for refurbishing, our team of building envelope specialists can advise on best methods, specialist products and other issues relating to installation, cost, occupancy during refurbishment and health and safety.
