B&Q ECO-STORE, MERTHYR TYDFIL


We supplied DIY giant B&Q with building envelope products to build a ground-breaking ‘Eco-Store’ with superior environmental performance, whilst also using a green roof to blend in with the local natural environment. This was to provide long-term habitats for local flora and fauna, such as can be seen in this green roof application.


B&Q’s Eco-Store concept initiative aims to lead the retail industry into ‘green retail’, which includes zero CO2


responsible uses of resources and energy-efficiency.


Using Colorcoat Renew SC® active solar air heating system, the Merthyr Tydfil Eco-Store is the first UK building to feature a roof- mounted solar collector. In a facility of this size, it can reduce the building’s consumption of energy for heating by as much as 40% and carbon dioxide emissions by 7.2 tonnes per year
