PAID CONTENT FOR ZANBLUU BEACH HOTEL

Zanbluu Beach Hotel ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA

On Zanzibar’s northeast coast, where the Indian Ocean shifts between the famous shades of turquoise and cobalt, Zanbluu Beach Hotel offers something increasingly rare in modern travel: a boutique escape where luxury and environmental responsibility quietly coexist. Perched above the shoreline just outside the

peaceful village of Kiwengwa, the 19 room, independently owned hotel has become known not only for its oceanfront setting and calm atmosphere, but also for its forward-thinking approach to sustainability. Natural materials, open-air spaces and locally

inspired design allow the hotel to blend into its coastal surroundings, while daily operations increasingly focus on reducing the resort’s long- term environmental impact. In recent years, the property has introduced

solar energy systems as part of a broader effort to reduce reliance on traditional power sources across Zanzibar. The hotel has also removed many disposable plastics from guest experiences, replacing single-use water bottles with reusable

glass alternatives that are refilled on site through a reverse osmosis filtration system. Beyond the visible guest-facing changes, many

of the hotel’s most meaningful environmental efforts happen behind the scenes. Organic waste from the kitchens and gardens is transformed into compost. Recycling initiatives and mindful purchasing policies further support the hotel’s ambition to operate more responsibly within the island ecosystem. Yet sustainability here isn’t presented as a

trend or marketing exercise. Instead, it forms part of the hotel’s wider philosophy of care — for the environment, for local culture and for the guest experience itself. Visitors are encouraged to engage with

Zanzibar thoughtfully, whether by supporting local communities, respecting the marine life during ocean excursions or simply by slowing down enough to reconnect with nature. From sunrise paddleboarding and dhow sailing to long afternoons beside the infinity pool, the experience at Zanbluu feels intentionally unhurried.

DON’T MISS Enjoy a traditional Ingalawa sailing experience across Zanzibar’s shallow turquoise reefs
