PAID CONTENT FOR THE VILLA OF ZANZIBAR

The Villa of Zanzibar ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA

Overlooking Tumbatu Island on Zanzibar’s northwest coast, The Villa of Zanzibar is an oceanfront residence set within 11,500sq metres of tropical gardens. The property offers the intimacy and freedom of a private home, combined with the service and comforts of a fully staffed hotel. Designed to embrace its natural surroundings,

the residence blends indoor and outdoor living through generous terraces, lush gardens and ocean-facing spaces. Hardwood and locally sourced Tanga stone lend warmth and character to the architecture, while four individually designed bedrooms accommodate up to eight guests. Two oceanfront bungalows, currently under development, will soon increase the property’s capacity to 12 guests. There’s also a 30-metre infinity pool stretching towards the Indian Ocean. Food is central to the experience. The chef

tailors each day’s menus to guests’ preferences, from relaxed lunches to elegant dinners beneath the stars. Much of the produce comes directly from the property’s own kitchen garden and fruit trees, while fruit, vegetables, seafood, fish and

meat are sourced from local farmers, fisherfolk and producers across Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. This close relationship with local suppliers keeps the cuisine firmly connected to the region while supporting shorter supply chains. Community also plays an important role.

The villa supports local schools in Kidoti, as well as the highest-achieving students in each graduating class. Care for the natural environment is also woven into the way the property operates. Rainwater is collected to irrigate the tropical gardens, organic waste is composted, and drinking water is filtered and bottled on site. These thoughtful initiatives reflect a simple philosophy: to offer a memorable guest experience while helping to protect the environment. Beyond the villa, Zanzibar offers countless

opportunities to explore its rich natural and cultural heritage. Visit the island’s renowned spice farms, wander the historic streets of Stone Town or head out onto the Indian Ocean for boat trips, sandbank excursions and days spent discovering the surrounding coastline.
