PAID CONTENT FOR ISALO ROCK LODGE

Isalo Rock Lodge ISALO NATIONAL PARK, MADAGASCAR

Set amid the extraordinary sandstone landscapes of southern Madagascar, Isalo Rock Lodge offers a stylish base from which to explore one of the island’s most spectacular natural regions. Spanning around 50 acres in the Ihorombe region, the four-star lodge blends contemporary comfort with an authentic sense of place, framed by sweeping views of the iconic rock formations and canyons of Isalo National Park. Designed to sit naturally within its surroundings,

the lodge is built using eco-sustainable materials and generates more than half of its electricity through an environmentally responsible photovoltaic system, helping to minimise its impact in this remote corner of Madagascar. The property offers 60 spacious guest rooms

across three categories. Superior Rooms enjoy uninterrupted views of the sandstone massifs, while Standard and Economy Rooms provide the same generous layouts and modern amenities in a more secluded setting. Warm Malagasy hospitality begins on arrival, with refreshing scented towels and fragrances inspired by the island’s native plants.

Nature takes centre stage here. Guests can follow

the lodge’s own Pachypodium Trail through rolling hills dotted with the unusual succulent plants for which it is named, passing a natural swimming pool before reaching a panoramic viewpoint that offers one of the region’s finest sunset vistas. Beyond the estate lies Isalo National Park, renowned for its dramatic canyons, sculpted sandstone formations, natural pools and remarkable biodiversity. Guided hikes reveal a landscape home to ring-tailed lemurs, sifakas, endemic birds and unique plant life found nowhere else on Earth. After a day of exploration, guests can unwind

beside the infinity pool overlooking the mountains or indulge in a relaxing massage at the wellness centre. Aloalo Restaurant celebrates Madagascar’s rich culinary heritage with dishes prepared from fresh local ingredients alongside international favourites, while the terrace provides spectacular views across the surrounding landscape. As evening falls, Papango Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail as the sandstone cliffs glow in the warm light of sunset.

DON’T MISS Watch the sun set over Isalo’s sandstone formations, when the landscape is transformed into shades of crimson
