Comprehension STOP Use your dictionary to find out the meaning of the bold words below. Dearest Red
! My dearest Little Red Riding Hood,
I am writing to you to express my deepest regret for the series of unfortunate events which occurred on Saturday last. You see, the reason for my out-of-character behaviour was that I momentarily lost my mind! (But luckily I have found it again.) You will recall that Saturday morning was a little foggy and right before I met you in the woods, I tripped and fell over a loose branch (I have the scar to prove it). I was briefly knocked unconscious. All I could see were stars when I came round. A near-death experience like this can change a person you know. (I saw it in a horror movie!) When I stumbled over and saw you skipping along with your basket, the only thing I could think of was gobbling you up (with a serving of fries and ketchup!). I am appalled and ashamed my sweet, innocent girl. I am even having recurring nightmares (the doc says the medication will help).
Forgive me, dear Red, for truth be told, I am actually a herbivore! I took an oath on my 12th birthday (after feeling guilty for eating a robust rabbit in one gulp) and for some unknown reason to man, the amnesia following my accident led me to carry out the preposterous events at your sweet granny’s house. It sickens me to think that I, shy old Amadeus Wolf, frightened a frail old lady and then went undercover in her very own bed pretending to be her! I never meant to be so cruel and underhanded. You must believe me Red!
I propose, to show my deep regret and how sorry I am, that you come (alone) for dinner at my house on Wednesday next. I will have some nice treats in store and I promise it will be an evening not to forget!
Looking forward to eating seeing you soon,
Love and cuddles from your apologetic friend, Amadeus Wolf
