Predicting: Predicting means thinking about what might happen. You can make predictions before and during reading. You can revisit your predictions after reading. You can use your prior knowledge (what you already know) to make predictions before you read. Things like the title, illustrations, headings, subheadings and key words can help you make informed predictions. You can use information from the text to lead you to new predictions. Your predictions will not always be right, but that is OK. They will change as you read and as you gain more information.
