! Address Date Opening Dear Mr Scrumptious,

I am writing to you in relation to the competition you are running to win a family holiday to Malta (as well as some tasty treats to go with it). I saw the competition on the wrapper of a Chocomilk (which is so delicious by the way) and my eyes nearly popped out of my head! This competition was made for me! I really need to win this prize! I’m going to tell you why.

Let me introduce the humble and deserving Smith family. There are four of us: my dad, Dave; my mum, Michelle; my sister, Triona; and then there’s me, Niamh. I’m the youngest. Dad works really long hours in the Irish Army and last summer he had to go away to Lebanon to serve in the peacekeeping force for six months. We all missed him so much. The Skype connection wasn’t great so our contact was minimal. Mum found it hard to manage on her own and she was under the weather a lot so we didn’t get to go on holidays. It was a long summer.

Win a family holiday to Malta

Dad finally arrived home and things were fine and dandy for a while but then the floods hit and our entire house was destroyed. It was horrible, we all cried. Our most valued treasures are gone forever.

So, you see Mr Scrumptious, you must agree that we deserve a break, don’t we? We really need a relaxing family holiday in magical Malta where we can bask in the sunshine and have fun at the pool while slurping on ice pops. Surely you agree that our health has been suffering from a lack of Vitamin D and the stress of the flood? You would be increasing our life expectancy by allowing us to win this prize. Wouldn’t that make you sleep better at night? I would love to see the look on my family’s faces if I told them we won this prize. It would be like all their Christmases coming at once. So please, Mr Scrumptious, I am begging you, from the bottom of my heart, please crown us the winners of this fantastic prize.

I look forward to hearing from you (extremely soon). Yours sincerely,

Niamh Smith 98 Signature Farewell comment
