25 Food Festival Highlights

Chef Theatre The Chef’s Theatre is where all the action happens in Royal Avenue Gardens — free demonstrations full of fun, flair, and seriously impressive cooking skills and maybe even a little showing off! We’re delighted to welcome our local culinary heroes from The Seahorse, Andria, and The Holland Group as they cook their favourite dishes and chat about all things foodie. As always, we’ll also be greeting some new faces on stage including Nathan Outlaw and Henry Harris. Check the Festival programme for timings.

Tastings

Our popular food and drink tastings return for the 3 days at venues scattered about the town including a delicious lunch at the Flavel hosted by wine experts Susy Atkins and Fiona Beckett. Plus on Sunday in the Sail Loft, Will Lyons of The Sunday Times will pour a selection of top-end sparkling wines to round off the weekend.

Children’s Activities Following last year’s success, the Children’s Trail is back — ready with another tantalising treasure hunt for all to solve. And that’s just the start! Get absorbed in story time at the Flavel Church about the adventures of a lighthouse keeper followed by a free tea sponsored by Rockfish. There’s colourful biscuit-decorating with Coast and Country, an interactive cooking demo with the engaging David Jones, and a creative workshop hosted by the BeWild team all day Sunday. Great family fun!

Food Matters The Food Matters programme is packed full of topical issues of the day and is a unique free to enter event designed to entertain and inform audiences of all ages. We start in the Flavel auditorium on Friday evening with a series of pro/ con debates about weight loss drugs and the fast-changing food culture in the UK.

On Saturday, the conversation spills into Royal Avenue Gardens, where chefs, food writers, and some of the South West’s finest producers come together to celebrate the incredible food on our doorstep. Come, contribute and enjoy.

Raffle Try your luck at winning some fabulous prizes in the 2026 Food Festival raffle. Tickets will be on sale at the Info Tent in the bandstand and from our volunteers roaming around town.

Monday’s Community Lunch

On the Monday after the Food Festival, we’re throwing open the doors of the Flavel for a free Community Lunch. We’ll be turning all the leftover goodies from our generous stallholders into a delicious lunch for local residents. It’s always a great occasion and our favourite way to say a big thank you to the town for hosting us.

Getting involved

Dartmouth is fortunate to have a wonderful variety of societies, charities, youth groups, and festivals, but they all depend on volunteers to thrive.

If food is your passion, come find us over the weekend and chat about joining the Festival team. We’ll be the ones in bright turquoise hoodies and interested in your talents and ideas!

Check the website for more details and book tickets to the wonderful experiences available!
