The Business Travel Awards returned to London’s Grosvenor House to recognise the best in the industry

AWARD-WINNING COMEDIAN AL MURRAY took to the stage at the Business Travel Awards 2019 at the end of January, to present the most coveted trophies in the industry. Prior to revealing the 22 category winners, the host surprised guests at their dinner tables with impromptu introductions, where no one was safe! 56 MARCH/APRIL 2019

House, in London’s Mayfair, was the Sophie Adams Ballet Company, whose dancers captivated guests with their beautifully choreographed performances. Guests at the annual event – dubbed

the “Oscars of the industry” – also had the chance to socialise and network at two lavish champagne receptions before the three- course gala dinner.

As in previous years, the standard of entries was high and the panel of inde- pendent judges, made up of leading travel buyers, had a challenging task. On the night, easyJet won a double with both Business Airline of the Year and Best Short-Haul Airline. Meanwhile, the business travel industry’s finest put their hands together for GLH Hotels’ head concierge Didzis Neiman- is, who was crowned Rising Star of the Year. Following the awards ceremony, guests enjoyed the after-show party into the early hours with live music, dancing and a casino. Next year’s Business Travel Awards will be the 25th anniversary of the event, so we’re already planning for a very special occasion. We look forward to seeing you in January 2020 to celebrate once again. n For more pictures from the night, visit businesstravelawards.com
