IHG SNAPS UP SIX SENSES FOR $300M
INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP (IHG) has acquired luxury operator Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas from Pegasus Capital Advisors for US$300 million. The deal will see IHG take over all of Six
Senses’ brands and operating companies, but excludes any real estate assets. Six Senses manages 16 hotels and
resorts worldwide, with 18 contracts signed into its pipeline and 50 deals in discussion. Its locations include Portugal’s Douro Valley, the Maldives (pictured) and the Seychelles, among others. IHG said the acquisition opens up
opportunities “in the world’s most sought- after locations”. The Six Senses brand is set to be at the top of the group’s luxury portfolio. The group aims to grow the Six Senses
collection to 60 properties over the next 10 years, including adding urban locations.

RYANAIR COMPLETES LAUDAMOTION ACQUISITION
RYANAIR HAS TAKEN total control of Austrian low-cost airline Laudamotion less than a year after it started operations. Formula One racing legend Niki Lauda formed the carrier last year after purchasing the assets of his former airline Niki from Air Berlin after it went into administration. Ryanair has committed to increase Laudamotion’s fleet to 25 aircraft this summer, and signed a letter of intent with “a number of lessors” to expand to 30 planes by summer 2020, which will allow it to grow its traffic from 4 million to 7.5 million passengers in 2021.

GLOBALSTAR TRAVEL MANAGEMENT has been appointed as one of two companies to service the travel requirements of oil and gas service provider Petrofac. Following a tender process,
Airlink has been chosen to provide travel management services for employees in the UAE and Bahrain, while Globalstar will look after the rest of the world for the client. Petrofac has 12,750 employees,
with projects and operations in 29 countries across the world. Its global travel manager Stephanie Rothman, who joined in October, has implemented the company’s new travel programme based on efficiency and cost optimisation, according to Globalstar. She has more than 25 years’ experience in corporate travel management.
