Nina & Pinta has published a white paper, IATA’s One Order, which offers reasons why travel managers need to be part of the conversation and looks at how One Order could affect buyers. “In theory, One Order would allow any number of component parts to become part of that record – flights, hotels, security providers – and would provide full and instant visibility,” says the report.


“Picture that in the world of


a corporate travel ecosystem – it truly is the ultimate goal. To see booking decisions that have been made outside of policy and to have instant full content data is really what every travel buyer


strives for. The vision of One Order provides that.” Nina & Pinta says One Order could have “tremendous advantages for corporations with significant spend in business travel” as it should simplify travel management, enhance the booking experience for travellers, as well as providing buyers with more data and visibility.


But one buyer quoted in the


report stresses that One Order will only work if its forerunner NDC “is a success”. IATA clearly sees things the same way with Yanik Hoyles, director, new distribution capability programme, now taking responsibility for both NDC and One Order in his role.


BUILDING UP Hoyles told BBT that One Order was “two to three years behind NDC” in its development with the aim of eventually creating a “simple order just like any other retail business”. “One Order really builds on the logic of NDC and is the next step forward,” he says. “NDC enhances distribution while One Order simplifies the fulfilment. “Having that single order reference will make the process much more customer centric. Everything will be in the single record – you won’t have to have the PNR, ticket and EMD, which is so complicated and clunky. It’s all about simplification.” Hoyles says another advantage of One Order will be to make it
