A customer visiting Porcelanosa’s impressive new showroom in Cambridge will discover that the company does a lot more than just tiles

iguring out the best way to display tiles and surfaces to customers is a real challenge. However, anyone struggling for the best solution should come to Porcelanosa’s new showroom in Cambridge to see how the pros do it. The new showroom is on the outskirts of the city centre in an impressive curved, wooden building. When you are in the showroom, it has a light, airy, slightly industrial feel that complements Porcelanosa’s tile, bathroom and kitchen collections well. A combination of full room sets, large sample libraries and wall-mounted displays gives a comprehensive overview of all the ranges. Igor Vazquez, managing director of


Porcelanosa South-East, says that the minimalist layout creates a premium ambience that encourages customers to wander around the showroom’s open spaces. This enables customers to see a huge number of products without being overwhelmed and reminds people that Porcelanosa isn’t just about tiles – it has a full range of kitchen and bathroom products as well.

flow of the showroom is designed to allow retail customers to wander around and find inspiration for their own designs. Vazquez says: “Having a contemporary minimalist layout ensures the showroom maintains its premium ambience. The open spaces allow customers to be able to create the perfect bathroom, kitchen or living space and they will be pleasantly guided from the

front to the back of the showroom, witnessing the stunning range of products.” The best way to display a product is by showing it as it will be installed – this gives the customer a true sense of what it will look like in their own home. Which is why there are 26 unique settings in the showroom that are fully decorated.


The settings have a variety of styles from white and clean, to bold and dark, to minimalist and homely. Vazquez says: “The idea is to show different concepts that are not connected in any way but yet displayed in a way that connects the showroom as an overall warm experience.” The sample library is a nifty way of showcasing hundreds of slabs that are large enough get a full sense of the scale and the patterns of the stone, so customers can appreciate the detail of the design and choose whatever suits their particular projects. There are also large wall-mounted mosaics and samples throughout the showroom. The main takeaway from this showroom is that it really shows how many products Porcelanosa actually produces and that, even though it is best known for its wall and floor tiles, the company does so much more than that. Vazquez explains: “We are a one-stop shop and there are many categories of products we could mention. “You could argue Porcelanosa is most famous for its tiles. However, over the years this has been counteracted by the fact we produce a huge variety of materials and furniture, most of which are created from natural minerals, promoting sustainability.”
