Booth as we stand in the car park of what has to be one of Britain’s most scenic bathroom manufacturing facilities. But despite its situation amid the rolling Cumbrian fells,


deep in the heart of the Lake District and surrounded by little more than fi elds, cattle and sheep, Kudos has upped its game considerably over the past year or so. Inspirational founder and chairman Bruce Ledwith is still


there, of course – and his passion for the business and for the wider bathroom industry is as infectious as ever. But in a bid to take Kudos to the next level in its 20-year development, he’s recently introduced a new senior management team tasked with transforming the company’s strategy and business culture and injecting new life into its product portfolio.


Phase one, back in April 2018, was to recruit a new managing


director – former Moores chief fi nancial offi cer Mark Hill who brings signifi cant ‘change-management’ experience. Phase two

Cumbria-based shower solutions manufacturer Kudos is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has recently undergone sweeping changes to its senior management team and business culture. kbbreview gets the full story from managing director Mark Hill, operations director Paul Booth and sales and marketing director Nick Graville

was to bring in Nick Graville as sales and marketing director, whose CV includes senior sales roles with Jacuzzi UK, Johnson Tiles, Lecico Bathrooms and Hansgrohe. Meanwhile, Booth has made such a good impression on the business that he’s already been promoted to the board, less than a year after joining as operations manager. His fi rst task has been to move shower tray production to the Northern Ireland facility in Coleraine and fi nished goods to a new 40,000sq ft expanded warehouse facility situated two miles down the road from the production unit. “The wife forgot my name,” he jokes, but the results are impressive. Marketing manager Katie Hodgson, who joined Kudos in


March, completes the new line-up. Total investment in this big new drive for growth is put


at around £1 million – roughly half last year and half this. Turnover for 2018 was £15.3m and the company says it is on track for its budget target of £17m in 2019. “There are three areas we’ve changed,” Hill reveals. “Number one is people. Second is new product development – we’re launching three new ranges and more new products in the
