Vitra’s latest designer collaboration has created Plural with Milan-based American designer Terri Pecora. A key feature is the layering and grouping of different furniture pieces that enable them to work together in overlapping heights, colours and dynamic confi gurations

As consumers are getting more daring and designers bolder, there is greater scope than ever to make a statement in the bathroom. Francesca Seden looks at some of the latest trends and themes and seeks some expert advice on how to achieve a harmonious but unique look

to stamp their personality on their bathrooms by injecting some colour and individuality on a once all-white and fairly sterile-looking space. As in the kitchen, confident designers are increasingly unafraid of making bold choices that might not be to everyone’s tastes but that totally speak to their client.

These bold choices are driven by a number of factors. Firstly, ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ is an outdated notion in an Instagram age where you can make connections and share your style ideas with anyone in the world.

As Temza’s senior interior designer Julia Janosa


puts it, “you’re no longer tied to geographical location – you can find your tribe anywhere”.


A recent project by Angel Interiors (pictured on page 68) is a great example of this personalisation and self- expression. The colour on the walls and ceiling is dark green, while carefully positioned recesses display all sorts of knick-knacks. A piece of art sits on one wall on runners and slides across to reveal further recessed storage, and plants trail down from another. The Bagno vanity unit is textured and more akin to something you might find in a living room. The thinking around this project, explains creative director Tim Baber, was to create for the client something both luxurious and sumptuous, but also
