Requirements for safe and reliable operation However, in a medical power supply system it is not always easy to replace the old with new technology. Owing to the increased cost pressure in hospitals, such a change must take place as quickly as possible in order to keep the downtimes to a minimum. New technology must meet additional requirements to ensure safe and reliable operation. For instance, new devices and installations should be less susceptible to disturbances than the devices of previous generations, they should be easy to operate to ensure straightforward training, even if further adjustments in the installation must be made. How can these requirements be satisfied, and the interests of hospital operators, technicians, and medical staff be served?
