Alan Abbatt stressed that the company is very aware that its success is only possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of the staff: “We know that if we concentrate on our employees, they in turn can focus on what is important to our business, our customers. “This is why Dr Weigert’s health & safety measures go far beyond the already high standards demanded at our headquarters in Germany. Our health & safety management system consists of 120 guidelines alone, which are all strictly observed. We are very proud of our low accident rate and, as with everything else at the company, are constantly looking at ways to improve. “This is also embodied by the staff who work at our seven European subsidiaries. Dr Weigert’s success stems from learning from our colleagues based not only at the headquarters in Germany but also in France, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Spain and here in the UK. “We offer all our employees long term prospects at the company by means of active staff development schemes, excellent remuneration and company benefits. The future needs the past


According to Alan Abbatt, Dr Weigert’s commitment stretches beyond its own organisation. The company also supports various charitable projects worldwide. These include those such as the Ghana Aid project, which has been helping to build and equip hospitals, schools and houses for street children in Ghana. During the time Dr Weigert has been supporting the project, Ghana Aid has built schools in Asamankese and Kumasi, near Offinso, which currently educates 480 pupils.


Villa Roth is another project that the company supports. Villa Roth is a centre for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, based in Hamburg. The centre gives them opportunities for the future. This year, Dr Weigert installed solar panels on the roof of the centre to supply the facility with sustainable energy. Alan concluded: “One of Dr Weigert’s philosophies is that ‘the future needs the past’. This sentence sums up their commitment to their products, employees and customers. “They have always worked hard to ensure they conduct their business in a responsible manner even before it became fashionable to do so. What they have succeeded to do so well in the past will sustain them as they build an environmentally sound future.”
