ventilation system; cutting laboratory heating costs and reducing the amount of heat that is vented as waste.
One material does it all
According to Alan Abbatt, the organisation’s efforts to enhance environmental protection and sustainability go beyond the cleaning chemicals themselves. “Much thought and care have also been placed on the packaging for the products manufactured at Dr Weigert,” he noted. “Our containers, caps and labels are all made of the same materials. This makes our own internal production processes more efficient and eco-friendlier and means that empty packaging can be recycled in a more environmentally friendly way with a smaller carbon footprint. The use of a single material significantly improves the recycling process for the packaging and reduces noxious emissions. In addition, in busy healthcare facilities, the provision of cleaning chemicals in easy to recycle packaging, offers a time benefit to our time pressured customers.”
Super micro-dosing technology.
In producing some of the most carefully researched cleaning products available on the market, Alan Abbatt believes the business protects the environment by preventing the use of unnecessary cleaning substances and excessive amounts of water, in sectors such as: the professional kitchen, barista, laboratory and dental markets. “The launch of the neodisher system Alpha has been one of the company’s most proud moments in recent years,” he asserted. “The high concentrate system for automated surgical instrument reprocessing is the epitome of what we are striving to achieve in terms of sustainability here at Dr Weigert. The highly concentrated detergents, neodisher SystemAct and neodisher SystemClean facilitates super micro-dosing.” As with all other products at Dr Weigert, these decontamination chemicals have been developed and manufactured in-house, and the resulting formulation provides material compatibility, gently reprocessing surgical instruments, with maximum value placed on product preservation and life span.
As a chemical company, working in some exacting industries, we believe that we have a special responsibility to make both our manufacturing processes and
our products as eco-friendly as possible. Alan Abbatt, Dr Weigert (UK)

“Customers comment on the duel product’s exceptional efficacy and perfect cleaning results on short programme sequences,” said Alan. “This again provides environmental benefits in terms of the reduction of water and energy used for each wash cycle. “However, the biggest benefit both for our customers and the environment is the highly concentrated nature of the product formulation, allowing super micro-dosing in every wash cycle. One of the main customer advantages in using the neodisher system Alpha detergents is their ease of use; there is no heavy lifting and fewer container changes.
“In addition, in many healthcare facilities, storage space is at a premium and the compact nature of the containers means that money is saved in both transportation and ongoing storage requirements. With regards to sustainability, SystemAct and SystemClean are part of Dr Weigert’s ongoing drive to super concentrate chemicals removing waste out of the chemical processes wherever possible. In addition to this, our highly concentrated products significantly reduce the amount of packaging needed which in turn reduces transport costs and hence the consumption of fossil fuels.
“When it comes to dosing technology, companies need to take into account customers’ specific requirements and utilise innovative technologies in order to meet their particular cleaning challenges. Dr Weigert develops tailor made solutions to cater for customer’s individual needs. Treating every customer in this unique manner supports
