PRODUCTS Premium warming range

Mistral-Air premium warming products are available from Central Medical Supplies (CMS), which has extensive expertise in providing hospital Trusts with patient warming products. The Mistral-Air Premium Warming range includes both a blanket and suit. The range features a reflective material on the non-patient side, providing both passive and active warming.

The Mistral-Air Premium Warming Blanket is an all-in-one system for keeping a patient warm during the entire perioperative procedure. The blanket’s insulating top layer is said to increase the warming capacity by at least 10%, by reducing radiant heat loss. According to CMS, the blankets can reduce heat loss by up to 80% in the perioperative environment. The Mistral-Air Premium Warming Suit can be used instead of a surgical gown. After pre-warming, the suit can be separated; enabling it to be used as an upper or lower body cover during surgery. Post- surgery, the suit can be joined back together with the velcro tabs. It is suitable for

procedures that have a high hypothermia risk. CMS offers a range of temperature management products, from a number of different companies, which continue to be available via the NHS Supply Chain Patient Temperature Management framework. The company is the sole UK distributor for The 37Company, which manufactures a range of blood and fluid warmers, along with convective warming products. Products include the Fluido AirGuard blood and fluid warmer system, which combines fluid warming with safety and speed, and Fluido Compact, a coated device for daily blood and fluid warming.

Sterile single-use valves

With over 30 steps to proper manual cleaning and reprocessing of biopsy, air/water, and suction valves, the Defendo range, designed by Cantel, eliminates the tedious and risky process from cleaning and reprocessing. Along with helping to create consistent practices and reducing the risk of potential errors, Defendo sterile single-use valves are said to be the most advanced protection for your patients. Cantel have also designed the Defendo Single Use Y-OPSY Valve, which solves the issue that not every GI Endoscope has a dedicated auxiliary water port for irrigation. This product allows the user to biopsy and irrigate simultaneously through the working channel. Available in kits that include, Air/Water, Suction and Biopsy Valves, the Defendo range is fully compatible with Olympus, Pentax and Fujinon endoscopes.

Washer disinfectors

Dekomed’s Deko washer disinfectors are designed and constructed to meet high capacity, with up to 20 DIN baskets per cycle, while mantaining high reliability. Cycles can be altered to meet any special requirement, though the standard requirements are met with the fixed, tested and approved programmes inserted by the manufacturer. The PLC control system allows various means for recording and downloading the process data and other necessary information. The 7” colour touch- screen interface and display panel stores both the control data and independent data in the same location.

The original just

got better Trojan Bins in conjunction with its design team, were the originators of the first all plastic fire-retardant sack holder, now widely accepted by the NHS as the product of choice. As an approved supplier within the NHS Supply Chain Framework, Scottish Sack Holder Framework and the Healthtrust Europe Framework, the company has a fast turn- around on all orders, keeping in-stock components to make over 3000 sack holders at any one time. All sack holders carry a 10 year Guarantee, subject to normal wear and tear.

Since the original conception, the product has been enhanced with easy clean surfaces, including an enclosed base and removable body. All surfaces can be cleaned safely with solution strengths 10000 parts per million. All sack holders come with silent closing lids and secure bag rings as standard, as well as wheels on the larger sizes. Trojan Bins insists from its material suppliers that all materials used are non- toxic and that, wherever possible, component parts contain a large element of recycled material. At end of life, all the products are 100% recyclable.

Tristel has developed a proprietary dual- chamber Capsule containing Base (citric acid) and Activator (sodium chlorite) solution. These are kept separate until the Capsule is burst and its contents diluted in 500ml of water to generate chlorine dioxide working solution for sporicidal surface disinfection. By uncoupling the liquid from the spreader hospital staff now decide how much liquid to use and which spreader to employ, whether that be a paper towel, a microfibre mitt or a biodegradable dry wipe. According to Tristel, SHOT can disinfect an entire patient bed space compared to many pre-saturated plastic wipes.

The SHOT Bottle and Doser are made of 100% reusable and recyclable polypropylene, and the Capsule is 100% recyclable.
